1.     Facebook:  Facebook is the biggest social networking site with the largest number of users. Facebook was launched on February 4, 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg, along with fellow Harvard College students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. Facebook has more than 2.2 billion monthly active users as of January 2018. 



2.   Twitter: Twitter is yet another well known online social networking site that allows its users to send and read text based posts popularly known as ‘tweets’. It was created in March 2006 by Jack DorseyNoah GlassBiz Stone, and Evan Williams. The service rapidly gained worldwide popularity. In 2012, more than 100 million users posted 340 million tweets a day, and the service handled an average of 1.6 billion search queries per day. In 2013, it was one of the ten most-visited websites and has been described as "the SMS of the Internet". In 2016, Twitter had more than 319 million monthly active users.



3.   Instagram: Instagram is a photo and video-sharing social networking service owned by Facebook. It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, and launched in October 2010. Instagram is widely being used for business marketing. After its launch in 2010, Instagram rapidly gained popularity, with one million registered users in two months, 10 million in a year, and ultimately 800 million in September 2017. While Snapchat’s daily user count grew just 2.13 percent in Q1 2018 to 191 million, and Facebook’s monthly count grew 3.14 percent to reach 2.196 billion, Instagram is growing closer to 5 percent per quarter.



4.   LinkedIn: LinkedIn is a professional business-related networking site found in December 2002 and launched in May 2003. Today, it has over 332 million users and each second adds two new members. LinkedIn provides friendly environment and impressive overall appearance for professionals.



5.   Quora: Quora was co-founded by former Facebook employees Adam D'Angelo and Charlie Cheever in June 2009, and the website was made available to the public on June 21, 2010. Quora is a question and answer site where questions are asked, answered, edited, and organized by its users. Quora's user base has been growing quickly since 2010. As of April 2017, Quora has claimed to have 190 million monthly unique visitors.
